Expansion of the year 2020: Destiny 2: Beyond Light

Within this category, it was quite difficult, at least for the undersigned, to weigh expansions against each other. World of Warcraft and its long-awaited Shadowlands finally landed after some delays and took players on new adventures in the completely unexplored shadow land. Greymoor to The Elder Scrolls Online was also a hot candidate who gave a lot of joy during the second half of 2020. And we must not forget all the different variations of DLC and additions enriched gaming experiences such as The Crown Tundra for Pokémon Sword and Shield, Bounty of Blood for Borderlands 3 or Legends for Ghost of Tsushima.

Like last year, 2020 has given fans many reasons to pick up old games. If there is one game that constantly attracts back every year, it is Bungie’s annual expansions Destiny 2.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light came in the same crank as Bungie went to work with his controversial decision to scrape away with more than 70% of the game and put the majority of all weapons in the grave. But I think we need to separate on the expansion Beyond Light and Bungie’s live service methods. As expansion is Beyond Light phenomenal and introduces a new destination with completely unique environments, a fairly solid story and a new completely OP class.

I have spent countless hours in the snow of Europe and fell in love with the forces of darkness Stasis. And although I’m a little disappointed with how the story was conveyed in Beyond Light I’m still looking forward to next year in Destiny 2 and the battle against Savathûn. Beyond Light is the introduction to a trilogy of expansions planned for Destiny 2 which foretells an exciting future for Bungie’s space depot.
