The latest rumour suggests that we might get a spin-off instead of a direct sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising spin-off, and that this next game might focus on Polynesian mythology.
Immortals Fenyx Rising was a wonderful (and underrated) open-world action-adventure game revolving around the world of Greek mythology. According to a recent report, it seems we could expect a spin-off game instead of a sequel, set in the world of Polynesian mythology.
Immortals Fenyx Rising could get a spin-off game
According to Jeff Grubb on the Games Mess Decides podcast, who repeated a claim made to him (thanks, VGC), “Ubisoft Quebec‘s sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising is not a proper sequel. It’s more of a spin-off.” It’ll apparently focus on Hawaiian Polynesian mythology, and while it’s still reported to have a God narrator, the spin-off will apparently be “visually stylised but… less of a copy of Breath of the Wild.” This same source suggested the game is in early pre-production and could launch in 2025.
Ubisoft hasn’t yet officially acknowledged any follow-up to Immortals Fenyx Rising, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens there. Ubisoft has, however, delayed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and cancelled another four games (including Ghost Recon Frontline), while reports suggest that Roller Champions’ servers could close after Season 3, which would be just months after the game’s launch. What’s more, the next Assassin’s Creed game has reportedly been delayed.
