It’s hidden object o’clock again with Demon Hunter: Chronicles from Beyond

Polish your magnifying glass and whack out a notebook, because the latest hidden object game from Artifex Mundi and Brave Giant Games is here! If you’re anything like us, this means snuggling down into some dodgy animations and B-movie voice-acting to enjoy some reassuringly camp puzzling.

This time round, it’s the Demon Hunter series, which is five-strong now on the Xbox (notably, you can buy Demon Hunter: Chronicles from Beyond with the other four in the series, as Artifex Mundi have also released a Demon Hunter bundle, only £45.99). The Demon Hunter series doesn’t connect together as firmly as other Artifex series, but it does have trademark demon-banishing, as you match runes together to drag them back to Hell.

The story focuses on Dawn Harlock, a red-eyed woman who returns to the family estate to investigate the death of her one-time mentor, Professor Ashmore. Cue supernatural goings-on, as demons are attracted to Dawn’s red eyes like rather large, sulphuric moths.

This one promises to be a big one, as Artifex Mundi have thrown numbers at us to sell the magnificence of Demon Hunter: Chronicles from Beyond. There are 41 locations, 29 minigames, 21 hidden object scenes and 28 achievements to unlock. There may be something in that flurry of information that excites you! Honestly though, if you’re a hidden object fan, you were probably sold at the words ‘Demon Hunter’.

The key features of Demon Hunter: Chronicles from Beyond on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC (where it has been for some time) include:

  • 41 hand-drawn locations scattered throughout a mysterious island!
  • 29 varied minigames!
  • 21 engrossing scenes containing hidden objects!
  • An enthralling story that will have your imagination running wild!
  • 28 exciting achievements to unlock!
  • A mesmerizing score and stunning wallpapers!

We can’t stop ourselves from picking up and playing hidden object games from Artifex Mundi, so expect a review soon. For now, head to the Xbox Store and pick up an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S version of the game for £12.49, or pick up the Demon Hunter Collection for £45.99. It’s that bundle which includes Demon Hunter: New Chapter, Demon Hunter: Revelation, Demon Hunter: Riddles of Light and Demon Hunter: Ascendance

Game Description:

Demon Hunter: Chronicles from Beyond tells the story of Dawn Harlock, an unusual red-eyed woman, who must return to her family estate on Iowa Island to investigate the mysterious death of her mentor, Professor Ashmore. It’s not long before Dawn discovers traces of horrifying experiments and has to come face to face with an ancient evil from another world. During the investigation, she begins to suspect that someone, or something, has crossed over into our world from another dimension and that her own mysterious past plays a large role in these disturbing events. Dawn will have to unearth the secrets lurking within a gloomy mansion, unravel the mystery of a grotesque experiment and find out what really happened all those years ago, when Professor Ashmore found her wandering aimlessly across the island. Will Dawn’s true identity prove to be the key to defeating the ancient evil from another dimension?
