One of the problems plaguing Overwatch 2 after its launch is the fact that some players are booted out of the game entirely if they unlock any achievements. Blizzard Customer Support has confirmed the team are looking into it.
The launch of Overwatch 2 was made considerably more bumpy by DDoS attacks and server issues which saw 40,000 player-long queues. Blizzard has since apologised, and said it “expected the launch of Overwatch 2 to go smoothly,” but one other problem that still persists is the fact that Overwatch 2 achievements are kicking people from the game.
Blizzard’s customer support team has confirmed the team is investigating the achievement issue
Some players who earned achievements in Overwatch 2 then reported being kicked out of the game and the server, meaning they had to rejoin the server queue. One player asked the Customer Support team whether the devs were aware of this achievement and server disconnect issue, and the team responded, saying, “Yes, yes they are — and it is being investigated.”
This reply doesn’t give us any indication of when we can expect a fix, but it is at least reassuring to know the devs are aware of the issue and are looking into it.
