Square Enix “hides” the price on PC

After just under two years, the PlayStation exclusive to Final Fantasy VII Remake is about to end. And contrary to what one might imagine, the Xbox consoles will not be the first non-PlayStation machines to receive the remake of the famous RPG. Indeed, this honor will go to the PC. And more specifically at the Epic Games Store. But this exit will obviously not be done without controversy.

On the Epic Games Store PC, Square Enix no longer displays the price of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. And it could be that this decision is linked to the controversy generated by the announcement of the same price. Square Enix took advantage of the Game Awards 2021 to announce the PC release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.

On PC, the hugely popular RPG will be exclusive, at least initially, to the Epic Games Store. And on the virtual store of the American publisher, it appears that the game will be sold as expensive as a AAA on new-gen consoles. In other words 70 dollars / 80 euros.

Hide this prize I can’t see

As of the announcement of this award, the discontent was immediate on the side of PC gamers. The latter are in fact not used to paying such an amount for a new title. And it would appear that this growl was heard by Square Enix.

Epic Games Store Final Fantasy 7 Remake

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade page on theEpic Games Store initially displayed this price of 79.99 euros. And the latter has recently been replaced by the words “Coming Soon / Soon. ” It is therefore possible to wonder if the Japanese publisher has not “hidden” this price until the controversy subsides.

What will be the fair price of Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PC?

Forspoken, another Square Enix game coming to the Epic Games Store, will also sell for 79.99 euros on the Epic store. The Japanese publisher, however, has not chosen to hide its price. It is therefore impossible to say that the price of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on the Epic Games Store has been taken offline due to the controversy over its price.

However, this possibility cannot be completely ruled out. So it is possible to wonder what Square Enix is up to? Is the publisher considering a price cut for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on PC? Or will he just hand over the price of 79.99 euros on the day of the game’s release? Impossible to say at the moment.

As a reminder, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released on the Epic Games Store on December 16.
